R. Alan Davenport

DNP, MS, CRNA, APRN

Dr. Davenport grew up in Middle Tennessee and obtained his undergraduate nursing education at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro. A former Paramedic, and with extensive experience in both the Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit of what was Baptist Hospital and the Cardiovascular Intensive Care “Pods” of what is now St. Thomas West Hospital, he was accepted into Middle Tennessee School of Anesthesia where he received the Janssen Pharmaceutical Award as the outstanding graduate in 1986.

With approximately 40 years of clinical anesthesia and intensive care experience, Dr. Davenport received a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, where his extensive work focused on multi-modal opioid sparing methods to reduce narcotic needs both during and after surgery. The anti-inflammatory effects of multiple intravenous medications and nutrient infusions, including but not limited to moderate and high dose Vitamin-C, and the ability of sub-anesthetic low dose Ketamine to help patients with depression and chronic pain, has led to IntraVenous Solutions becoming a wellness center with an evidence based clinical focus.

In recognition of his outstanding contribution to practice and to the betterment of the profession, the Tennessee Association of Nurse Anesthetists Board of Directors presented Dr. Davenport with the 2017 Practitioner of the Year Award at their annual meeting in Murfreesboro. As President and Director of Clinical Services for both Mid South Anesthesia, PC and IntraVenous Solutions, PC, Dr. Davenport strives to foster clinical excellence in all areas of health care.
